What kind of Jobs can I expect working in Canada?
Find out more about the types of jobs you can find in Canada, both in cities and during a ski season in a mountain resort.
Best Jobs if you want to do a Working Holiday in Canada
Mountains, lakes, buzzing cities, wildlife, poutine…is there anything Canada doesn’t have? We’re not surprised you want to live and work in Canada.
One of the biggest questions we get asked is what sort of job will I get in Canada? The answer is with our Essentials and Ultimate programme, there are tons of fantastic jobs in amazing locations for you to choose from! Not only will you have the chance to explore the country, you’ll learn invaluable transferrable skills that can assist in increasing your employability chances in the future.
The first decision you'll need to make is if you want to work in a city, or head to a ski resort for a winter or summer season.
Working in a city
Work in a Canadian city with our Essentials programme. For the duration of your visa, you’ll have access to our job database and resource centres in Toronto and Vancouver. Here are just some of the kinds of jobs that could be yours.
Retail work
A customer-facing role that requires a friendly and welcoming person (it’s hard not to be in a good mood when living in Canada!). Sound like you? Start looking for your perfect retail job with BUNAC.
Hospitality positions
If you’re a hardworking and customer driven person then a hospitality role may be your best bet. Enhance your skill set by learning to work under pressure and to a high standard. There are plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants that are always on the hunt for international staff!
Administration roles
Fund your new Canadian life with a role that develops organisational skills (which is always desirable to employers) and choose an admin job in an office environment.
Job related to your degree
We never say never, however depending on your degree it's always going to be slightly harder finding a job in your field of study. Most Canadian employers hiring for seasonal staff know you are on a working holiday, therefore will be leaving after a certain amount of time. In a career related role, you'll be up against equally qualified Canadians also looking for those roles. If you want to make sure you have some career related experience - it might be worth checking out our **[Intern and Work Combo](https://bunac.org/internship/canada/intern-and-work-canada)** programme. You'll get a part time internship (in your field of study) alongside work support so you can work part time in a casual job to pay your living expenses.
Working in a ski resort
On our Ultimate programme, we can secure a pre-arranged job for you at a world-renowned ski resort once you have your visa! We have positions in British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario, and here are just some of the roles we have in these incredible locations.

There’s a wide variety of front of house positions available on Ultimate, including wait staff, bartending, front desk representation and so many more.
Back of house and housekeeping roles
Do you see yourself in an all-important behind the scenes position at a ski resort? We have heaps of positions; food preparation, kitchen porters, room attendants and housekeeping. There's a job to suit everyone.
