You will have a monthly wage of around £1,392 - £1,474 (local currency about 2.1 – 2.3 million Korean Won)
Is English spoken in South Korea?
Yes! There are different levels of spoken English – you will find that people are more proficient in the cities as opposed to smaller cities or towns. English is also taught in all public school.
Do you need a degree to teach English in South Korea?
Yes, you will need to have completed a bachelor's degree (any field) with a minimum 2:2 grade. Check out other eligibility criteria here.
Can I save money while teaching in South Korea?
It will depend from person to person, but as your accommodation is paid for by your school, all you will really need to spend money on is food and transport – which can be done very inexpensively if you live like a local! You will also get a bonus of one month's salary at the end of your 12 month contract.
Will I be taxed from my monthly wage?
There will be a small tax deduction varying from school to school which usually ranges from 10-20%.
Where will my job be based?
Your job placement will be a big or small city. South Korea is quite urbanised, so all will feel quite developed. You will either be teaching Kindergarten, Primary or High school children, generally in private language schools.
How many hours will I teach a week?
Between 20-30 hours teaching or planning lessons.
